With support from OSPI, the WASA Special Education Director Academy has been developed to support those who have administrative responsibilities to Special Education. In 2019–20, the academy will support two cohorts.

AUDIENCE
Cohort I: Those who participated in the launch of the academy last year have the opportunity to continue in the academy and further strengthen their understanding and skills.
Cohort II: This cohort is open to those who are new to their career as a special education administrator and did not participate in the academy last year. 

COMMITMENT
  • $150 fee includes WA State Approved Clock Hours, face-to-face workshops, and materials
  • Attending face-to-face and Zoom meetings
  • Travel and housing expenses

You are invited, along with two guests (principal and guidance counselor recommended) to attend a special presentation by District Management Group (DMGroup). This training session is designed to increase participants' understanding of best practices for serving struggling students with and without IEPs and the interconnection to scheduling. DMGroup's Managing Director, Mark Wiernusz, will lead the training session. Mark is an expert in raising achievement for struggling students, improving special education, and  scheduling.
