AWSP Leadership Framework
With the establishment of state education standards in 1992, the Association of Washington School Principals (AWSP) recognized that student achievement would become the primary measure of a school’s effectiveness. Since then, a significant shift has taken place—a shift that has required the evolution of new school cultures, the understanding of new roles for teachers, and the development of new student accountability performance standards established and measured outside of the classroom. AWSP developed a Leadership Framework to align a principal evaluation system with these new leadership expectations. A User's Guide was created to accompany the AWSP Leadership Framework. It will assist principals and their evaluators with the process.
The Guide exists in three forms:
Printed Copy: A printed copy of the Guide was mailed to all principals, assistant principals and superintendents in early May 2014. Principals and assistant principals who are new AWSP members as of May 2014 will receive their printed copy from an AWSP Membership Ambassador in the fall.
