About
A major priority of WASA is legislative advocacy—and we encourage all school administrators to participate in advocacy efforts. We know, however, that many of you may not be comfortable engaging in the legislative arena. To help you ease into your advocacy role—especially if you have not engaged in the process before—WASA provides tools, best practices, and resources to support your advocacy.
One of those supports is our “Finding Your Voice” Legislative Advocacy Lunch & Learn series. There are three components to the series. We encourage you to participate in all three webinars; however, each presentation provides distinct information, so attending all three webinars is not essential—or required. The available webinars are:
- Finding Your Voice, Part I: Examining the WASA Legislative Platform | September 25
This webinar will provide a comprehensive review of WASA’s 2025 Legislative Platform; an overview of our Advocacy Toolkit; and an update on the progress of implementing our 2025 advocacy plan. These tools will assist you in effectively informing your legislators of administrators’ collective priorities.
- Finding Your Voice, Part II: The Importance of Legislative Advocacy | October 25
To help you ease you into your advocacy role—especially if you have not engaged in the process before—this webinar will provide tips, tools, and resources to help you engage with the Legislature and effectively advocate for your schools, your students, and your staff.
- 69th Washington State Legislature: 2025 Session Preview | December 11
With the start of the 2025 Session rapidly approaching, this webinar will provide a post-election review of the Legislature’s composition, an overview of the state budget situation, expected priorities—including budget requests from the governor and OPSI—and a pre-session progress report on WASA’s Platform.
