WASA President Message
I am honored to serve as President of the Washington Association of School Administrators (WASA). As a proud product of public education, I know firsthand the transformative power of our schools. My teachers and mentors went beyond lessons and textbooks, they instilled in me resilience, curiosity, and a belief in the value of contributing to my community.
Public education exists to unlock the potential within every child. Despite the challenges we face, achievement gaps, funding shortfalls, and rapid societal changes, our purpose remains steadfast: to ensure that every student, regardless of background or circumstance, graduates prepared to design their own future.
At WASA, our mission is to advance that purpose through Leadership, Trust, and Advocacy.
Leadership
We empower and support leaders to set high expectations, foster innovation, and provide the resources students need to thrive. Together, we build systems that champion both excellence and equity.
Trust
Our work is rooted in authentic relationships with students, families, educators, and communities. By leading with integrity and compassion, we strengthen the public’s confidence in the life-changing work of schools.
Advocacy
We speak boldly for the resources and policies that make education equitable and accessible for all. Every member’s voice contributes to ensuring that our schools are equipped to fulfill the promise of public education.
Through our shared commitment, we will continue to shape a future where every child is known, supported, and inspired to reach their fullest potential.
Wishing you a purposeful and rewarding school year.
—Shaun Carey, Superintendent, Enumclaw School District, President, WASA
