WASA Mentor Academy

ABOUT

With support from OSPI, this Academy is designed to increase the skills of the mentor to better support incoming superintendents in becoming effective leaders. 

CLOCK HOURS

Registration includes 12 Washington State Approved Clock Hours. 

2026–27 SCHEDULE

Sessions will be held via Zoom, 8 – 10 a.m. on the following dates:

  • September 29, 2026
  • November 3, 2026
  • January 5, 2027
  • February 2, 2027
  • March 2, 2027

Sessions are broken up into 30 min of mentorship best practice learning, 30 min of check in time with mentees, and 60 min of a combined learning session with mentees focused on the following topics.

  • Using evaluation as a leadership and systems tool rather than a compliance activity
  • Building communication systems that strengthen trust, alignment, and political leadership
  • Maintaining instructional focus while leading complex systems
  • Aligning financial decisions and operational systems to district priorities
  • Reflection, adaptation, and transition from entry leadership to sustained leadership
